Distinguish the
difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures
In the next experiment we are going to
distinguish between a homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures, with an easy
experiment.
To make the experiment we need a teaspoon of
salt, a glass of water, a glass of lemon water, a glass of cold soda, a handful
of rice, a handful of beans, one cup of beans cooked with broth, water, a small
container to heat water and a stove or electric grill. To distinguish the differences between the 2
mixtures write their state of aggregation (solid, liquid, gaseous).
The first thing we need to do is add salt to a
glass with water and shake it with a spoon for a minute. Then write the
appearance of the solution.
Then place a half of the rice in a bowl and add
water to cover, next shake it with the spoon. And also write the appearance of
the mixture.
Now with the remaining rice and withy some
beans mix it and take note of their appearance.
With the remaining rice and beans add some
water without overfilling. Then put it to heat until all the water evaporates
and observe inside the container. And record their observations.
Now with all the notes you have, compare the
results, and take note.
